The Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Credit Policy Council (DA-ACPC) inked a Memorandum of Understanding with the Palawan Pawnshop on December 3, 2024, engaging their services in money disbursement and remittance for easier and more convenient loan transactions of  loan beneficiaries with ACPC’s Partner Lending Conduits.

The DA-ACPC—through its Partner Lending Conduits (PLCs)—implements credit programs tailor-fit for farmers, fisherfolk, agri-fishery based micro and small enterprises (MSEs), and farmer/fisher organizations and associations (FFOs).

Through the MOU, DA-ACPC shall endorse  Palawan Pawnshop (PPS) to its PLCs, encouraging the use of the PPS’ services (thru Palawan Pawnshop, Palawan Express Pera Padala, and PalawanPay) for the disbursement of loans to end-borrowers, and collection of loan repayments.

“The DA-ACPC thought of partnering with the PPS to tap their large network and be able to streamline and make more convenient and efficient, the disbursement and collection of loans for farmers and fishers,” explained Director Noel Clarence Ducusin during his rationale of the collaboration.

With over 3,000 PPS branches and more than 260 active DA-ACPC PLCs, the partnership underscores innovation and maximizing efficiency of fund transfers for secure and cost-effective delivery of financial services to farmers and fisherfolk nationwide.

“This collaboration is not just a partnership between two entities, but a shared vision to empower the agricultural community with greater access to financial services,” said PPS Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) Lisa Lou C. Sabado. “This collaboration strengthens our service to our community while promoting financial inclusivity and support to our agricultural stakeholders.”

The MOU was signed by DA-ACPC OIC-Executive Director Ma. Cristina G. Lopez, Palawan Pawn Shop Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) Lisa Lou C. Sabado, and PPS-PEPP Financial Services Corporation Business Executive Officer Emiliano S. Librea III. In attendance were the Palawan Group of Companies founders Bobby and Angelita Castro, DA-ACPC Director Noel Clarence Ducusin, Program Development Division Chief Celedonio Pereyra, and officers and staff from ACPC and Palawan Group of Companies.
